Paediatric Osteopathy

A Paediatric Osteopathic consult can assist in identifying & treating any musculoskeletal or neurological factors, which may be contributing to your baby or child’s symptoms.

In Australia, there are no “Specialisations” in Osteopathy. It can be said, however, Dr Stephanie has dedicated much time and study into furthering her knowledge in the field of Paediatric Osteopathy, as it is after all the natural progression from her other great passion which is treating pre-natal and postpartum presentations.

Stephanie’s aim is to provide education and treatment relating to the identified clinical and functional needs of your baby, infants, and children, whilst always bearing in mind how these may impact the whole family. She is also happy to work alongside a variety of other health professionals, such as GP’s, maternal and child health nurses, Paediatricians, and lactation consultants, to help meet the needs of your child.

What does a Paediatric Treatment look like?

To begin, we will take a thorough history, including details about the mother’s pregnancy and delivery. This may give us some clues as to what is happening with your child now. We will then perform a thorough examination of your child, which may include things such as orthopaedic, neurological or physical examinations. We will then proceed to treatment of any identified issues using gentle balancing and positional stretching techniques.

Additionally, you may be given stretches and exercises to do at home with your baby. Lastly, your partner or any support person is always more than welcome to join you.

Please Note: No manipulation (defined as 'clicking, popping or cracking’) is ever used in the treatment of children under the age of 12.

Paediatric Osteopath, Dr Stephanie uses a variety of gentle osteopathic techniques and applies no more pressure than when dressing or holding an infant or child, during paediatric treatments.
